Entry 0004
Played a StarCraft game with Brendan (MJ Is Ugly) last night. We played against some computers. The first game, a map having four bridges, meeting only at the center, was incredibly fun. My friend and I chose the Zerg race, whilst I assigned the computer player the Terran race. (I hosted the game.) We quickly assembled our armies at the center span and fortified the area. Defenses sprang up, and troops burrowed underneath the ground, hiding beneath unsuspecting enemies.When the first group of computers attacked, we were ready. Eleven Sunken Colonies (organic buildings with tendrils that are thrust into the ground to attack enemies) quickly shred the opposing ground troopers. Another wave charged, destroyed a few colonies, and was repelled by our combined might. Then a wave of siege tanks deployed their long-range cannons and began to shell our position. We lost another two colonies before 24 Zerglings raced forwards and attacked. Tanks exploded, but the computer was expecting this. Marines opened fire, and we lost three quarters of our force before they were killed.
We rebuilt, and began an offensive. Air support was provided, along with larger soldiers. We attacked the computer’s farthest outpost, destroying a pair of supply depots and killing a few of their troopers. The skirmish raged on and heavy losses were taken on both sides, until our invasion force was completely obliterated. We reinforced the center span once more and began another offensive. It failed, and we deemed the computer’s position too fortified. It would take too much time to win. We started another game
In this map, Triumvirate, a series of small islands are home to each player. We decided to change out strategy. We becamse the Terrans, and we set the computer as Zerg. We set about, sending workers to collect minerals and build barracks. On an island map, anti-air defenses are critical. I set about making a missile-defense network around the perimeter of my island. Brendan did the same, but slower. Just as I had settled another base and moved troops to protect it, the computer attacked me, as I was closer. It’s air support was ravaged by my missile turrets, but they managed to land troops inside the main base. Turrets were destroyed, and my air support had to intervene. The initial wave of attackers were wiped out, but just as soon as the last flyer was killed or fled, another wave attacked. This time Brendan had to intervene, he sent his entire air force to help. The remainder of my air force and Brendan’s air force was destroyed. A few ground troops landed, and my buildings were destroyed, all except for the turrets and spaceport in the lower section. When the enemy’s ground forces attacked, my siege tanks obliterated them. Survivors pulled back, and long range bomber destroyed what was left. My other base was destroyed, and the game ended for me.
I’ll get that comp next time…

Got my sidebar links up and running.
This morning, I installed the original Command and Conquer game. It was terrible, so I uninstalled it. Looked much better on the CD cover.
I then installed Half-Life and Counter-Stike. It said something about ‘error, missing (insert DLL file here) in (insert directory here). It failed as well. D:<
Then I installed Duke Nukem: The Mahattan Project, a game I absolutely adore, but have only played on other computers. It ran, but it ran so slow, moving the cursor on the screen took ages.
All I have now is to wait for that expansion of SW: GB I ordered on Ebay to ship. Canada Post doesn’t ship on weekends. *sigh*
Might as well go play some Republic Commando…

Have a SW: GB match set up around 12:00-ish. MJ Is Ugly and I are going to kick some comp ass. I’ll edit to include the match’s statistics later.
::EDIT::
Failure! On both ends, we couldn’t get a connection. SW: GB did not display any IP numbers, and therefore ended our game before it began. D:
Looks like the comps owned us after all…
